Faux finishing
workshops at the Lexington Arts and Crafts Center , 130 Waltham Street,
Lexington MA
Faux Finishes I
- re-create leather, granite, mahogany, and other easy and fun faux finishes
with the use of color glazes and common items such as bubble wrap, plastic
wrap, sponges and other household items. Add some decorative painted
accents to transform that old chair, table, bench, trunk or box into an
heirloom piece. A good knowledge of decorative painting is required.

Faux Finishes II -
Simple wood graining, wax distressing, marbleizing and glazing; re-create
Burlwood, Tortoise shell, green marble and Lapis Lazuli with the use of
color glazes, common items such as sponges, clay, as well as graining and
combing tools.

The classes will work on
sample boards to be kept as a reference for use when refinishing furniture
or painting smaller pieces such as jewelry boxes and picture frames.
All projects will be
taught using acrylic paints and mediums

painted on a rusty rectangle, and mounted on a 3" x 5" canvas

Cherries Jubilee with a scroll-work frame

some surprises. Once again, we will have "make-it-take-its" featuring a
new product or two.
